Upcoming events at SeeMore Green and other local venues, newest events first:
Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout May: Starting at 5:30 we will be meeting at about the same time, in the early evening, and continuing to care for the collective health of the Green’s effervescent new life. As with all of our spring gatherings, seeds will be available for exchange, and we encourage you to share with each other.
Thursday, April 30th: We will be doing more preparation and cleaning at the Green and planting more seedlings in the greenhouse. We’ll get started at around noon and continue until it feels like we’ve done enough for the day and the sun has done enough for us. Tuesday, April 28th: We will be getting the garden beds ready for the new season. We’ll be at Seymour Green all afternoon. All are welcome to come and go as they please. Feel free to bring seeds to swap with us and others.
Sunday, April 26th: At the NSPIRG office, room 314 of the Dalhousie Student Union Building, we will be sowing seeds and potting plants in preparation for their sprouting in the Dal greenhouse. Join us in the afternoon starting at 2:00. Feel free to bring seeds to swap with us and others.

Tuesday, November 4th: NSPIRG (our root organization) will be holding its annual general meeting from 7-8:30 PM. All are welcome to come enjoy free local food and learn about NSPIRG’s efforts to resolve local environmental and social justice issues. Dalhousie students are especially encouraged to attend, as NSPIRG is funded by Dalhousie Student Union fees.
Saturday, September 20th: The Canadian Institute of Forestry will be hosting a day-long mushroom foray in Camp Nedooae, between Middle Musquodoboit and Elderbank. Tuesday, September 16th, starting at Seemore Green: The community garden bicycle tour is coming to town, so forget all your duties! Starting at five-ish we’ll be riding around Halifax checking out all of the verdant community gardens and enjoying the freedom of the open road. If you’re looking for a two-wheeled pedal-powered propeller, check out Bike Again in the Bloomfield Center. Bike Again is run entirely by donation and volunteer work, and provides free cycles and repair instruction to the Halifax community. They’re also active activists, supporting & celebrating bike culture and freedom from oil dependence through Critical Mass rides and other events. Help and bikes are available to all comers on Monday and Wednesday evenings between five and 9 PM. The Tuesday evening session, reserved for women-identified folks, is on hiatus until springtime. Tuesday, September 9th at Seemore Green: All are welcome to enjoy free music and food, the presence of local artists and their work, and the fertility of the Green garden from 6 – 10 PM. Members of bluegrass bands the Smokin’ Contra Band, the Strangeboys, and Grand Sassparilla will be creating a lively lovely atmosphere for your graceful enjoyment. You can check out the poster here.
Tuesday, August 26th at Seemore Green: Honey Harvesting with Brenna. Beginning at 5 PM, we’ll spend a couple of hours helping the bees share their stockpiled sweetness with us, being sure to save enough for them to make it through till springtime.
Tuesday, August 19th at Seemore Green: Seed Saving and Swapping with Silas, starting at seventeen hundred hours (S PM)! Two hours of tips teaching the tickling-out, treatment, and treasuring of these tiny troves, and other tricks of the trade. Pack packets for people’s partaking if you please.
Tuesday, August 12th at Seemore Green: Bee disease diagnosis and treatment with Brenna and Nicole, from 5-7 PM. Learn to keep your hive safe from mites, foul brood, and other nasties, and how to heal illnesses.
Tuesday, August 5th at Seemore Green: Plantlife exploration expedition with Akhtar and Brenna. We will meet at 5 PM and do a couple of hours of hiking in the local environs to discover and identify wild plants. Brenna will inform us as to which ones can be employed in dyeing fibres.
Tuesday, July 29th at Seemore Green: let’s make this tuesday a work party extravaganza! from 5-7pm
